With a new year, a lot of new trends come in. Be it fashion, beauty, technology or anything else for that matter, a new year brings with it a wave of freshness for every aspect of our daily lives.
So just like every other year, 2017 has also come with a new set of fashion trends that will set your wardrobe ablaze. Last year is passé, and so are it’s fashion trends. Let us now take you through some latest things that will be in vogue in 2017.
Gone is the time of denim shirts and jackets. This is the year of velvet. From jackets to dresses, sarees to lehengas, velvet will sell like hot cakes in every possible attire this year. And, trust us! Nothing makes a person look more royal than a velvety outfit. So, grab some already.
#2. Choker necklaces
While chunky, antique looking jewellery was in vogue last year, this will be the season of sophisticated yet supremely hot-looking choker neckpieces. Although, these uber looking trinkets did create quite a stir last year too, this year they will definitely rule the fashion world.
And, you can never go wrong with a choker. It looks great with all kinds of outfits- traditional and modern, so all you have to worry about is finding the piece that flatters your neck perfectly.
#3. Unusual colour combinations
The black-white-red and other such classic colour combinations are out of style now. If you want to look trendy and steal the show this year, then you should opt for some really hatke combinations.
Try to coordinate your look in a way that is eye-catching, but not over-the-top. Unusual colour combinations will grab people’s attention and make you stand out in a crowd.
#4. Graphic t-shirts
Nothing spells ‘cool’ more efficiently than a chilled out, funky graphic tee. It might be a catchy phrase, or an image, on your tee that will stand out. All you have to do is pair it up with a trendy pair of jeans, or any other lower of your choice, and you are all set to go.
We guarantee that the limelight will be yours once you step wearing that funky T-shirt of yours.
#5. Off-shoulder dresses and tops
This is one trend that never ever goes out of fashion. Last year, designers modified the off-shoulder and came up with a new trend- the cold shoulder. It looked great, no doubt, but it is passé this year.
Off-shoulder dresses and tops have always been an iconic style that instantly up your glam quotient. And, we all know that a classic never goes out of style.
#6. Natural makeup look
A natural makeup look is the best look you can sport. It is easy to achieve, and goes well with all kinds of outfits. Last year, face contouring was a rage with girls going crazy over this makeup trend. But, it is outdated this year.
Highlighting the different areas of your face is no more in vogue now. In fact, you should concentrate on achieving a neutral look.
#7. Classy pumps
No chunky footwear now, please! Instead, classy pumps in subtle colours will be totally in this season. And do you know what the best part about pumps is?
They go amazingly well with all kinds of dresses, be it skirts, trousers, jeans, dresses or even traditional Indian attire. What more can one ask for out of a single pair of footwear!
On occasion of her new book on fashion design education, Fashion Thinking: Creative Approaches to the Design Process (AVA, February 2013), Fiona Dieffenbacher--director
of the BFA in Fashion Design at Parsons the New School for Design--reflects on new and
exciting approaches to fashion education: by Fiona Dieffenbacher
The main question to be asked of fashion education today is “Are we training students to design clothes or to create fashion?” To be makers, creators, or both?” At Parsons The New School for
Design we have re-approached our curriculum to address these questions, which has led to
innovative, new pathways for our students to develop as designers.
In order to understand the difference between the spheres of making and creating fashion, we have
focused on design thinking as a method of envisioning a reality that does not yet exist, and as a
means for achieving innovation. Fashion thinking involves harnessing the vast array of skills
at the designer…
When you take a vacation in the sun, one item you must remember to pack is a hat to protect yourself from the sun's harsh rays. But have you ever tried to take a woven hat with you on vacation? But a fabric sun hat is the best of both worlds: You can fold and pack it along with your clothes, but when unfolded, it will provide shade and keep you from getting burnt. The steps below look long and complicated, but trust me, this couldn't be easier! Just follow along with each step of this sewing tutorial, and you'll have your own version in no time.
